![]() I had a really good time learning about how the Gwinnett Department Of Transportation work. From the outside looking in you don't see all of the moving parts that go into running our transportation system. Did you know that most of the street signs that you see throughout Gwinnett are made in house by two talented gentlemen? I got a chance to see how they make the street signs in action. How the signs are printed and then applied to the reflective metal that we see on the highways as we travel around the county. I've included a short video to give you a glimpse at how it all goes done at the D.O.T. The next thing that was pretty fascinating was seeing how the traffic is monitored from the DOT traffic station. There are cameras that can see very well the cars that are driving down the streets, so if you are thinking about running a red light or a stop sign, you'd better think again, because you are on candid camera. Duluth had a block party and concert on Friday and my husband and I attended. We had a really good time. It was just nice to be outside meeting new people and just enjoying the live band that was playing songs from the 80's. Friday night is our date night and most of the time we just go out to dinner, but this time we decided that we wanted to do something different, so we went to Duluth for the block party. There were vendors and games for the children. They even had the old school video games like PacMan and Centipede which is one of my favorite games. I wanted to play, but the kids would not let up, so instead I ate popcorn, chatted with the couple sitting on the bench next to us and enjoyed the music and people watching. After attending this event my husband and I decided that we would continue to go to the different events that are held throughout the year here in Gwinnett. The crazy thing is that I announce a lot of these events on Good Morning Gwinnett everyday, but I rarely attend them, because I'm most likely working. Moving forward I will be taking a time out and enjoy some of these great events that I talk about on the show. If you're like me always working and barely taking time for yourself I invite you to take a time out and just enjoy all that your community has to offer. It can really be refreshing. It was for us. If you are in Gwinnett and you see me out and about tap me on the shoulder to say hello. Until Next Time Make It A Great Day! Audrey |
