When I started Good Morning Gwinnett is was a way for me to be a contributor to my community. I love what I do so much that I want to put most of my focus on the show and making it better. Towards the end of 2020 I decided that I wanted to grow the show into a brand. I knew the next step in that evolution was to incorporate video. Now I'm not a stranger to video, but I must admit that I have become spoiled not having to worry about if my hair is done or bother putting on makeup.
I realized that if I wanted to scale the way I envisioned I was going to have to start live-streaming. So, Monday I went live for the show for the first time. I gotta tell you that I was a little bit afraid and don't ask me why, because I don't really know. When I woke up I thought to myself, that I will wait and not go live today and just start tomorrow, but something in my head said, "No" you're going to start today and I said okay and I went live. After the episode was over, I felt so proud of myself. I had worked all weekend setting up my video player to run video ads during the song break and making sure that I and the music could be heard on each device. Everything worked fine, but I still almost did not go live on Monday. After doing so I felt so empowered. I'm looking forward to scaling the business now. I've a video player that plays ads during the songs. The show is live streamed on Facebook and Roku. I will be adding more live stream platforms starting next week one of which is YouTube. This is an exciting time for me and Good Morning Gwinnett. I also got an offer from The Hype Magazine to produce my Thursday person where I will be interviewing locals in their studios which is super high tech taking the show to another whole level. So things are moving in the direction of my desire and I am looking forward to see what will unfold next.

In this episode I talk to Sara Heady who is the Membership Service Coordinator for the Gwinnett Chamber Of Commerce. She is going to share with us the importance of attending events and how it can help you grow your business. She gives great advice for those people who know that getting out there and networking is going to help them grow their business, but they hate networking because they are shy. I totally understand this, because I am somewhat shy when it comes to networking. It feels crazy to me when I have to just walk up to someone and introduce myself. If you met me you would probably say that I wasn't shy, but I am when it comes to networking. Here's the thing though, I don't let that stop me from going out there and doing it. Sara give some great tips on what you can do to help you network better when you are shy. Take a listen to this episode.
