In this short clip I share my thoughts on doubt and dreaming. Take a listen and think about how your life would be stopped doubting and started dreaming. It takes the same about effort to doubt as it does to dream. Choose dreaming instead.
Welcome back to the good morning. Gwinnett show. Listen guys, that's all I got for you today. But before I go, I just wanted to give you a little bit of inspiration to help you keep moving towards the day. Something that I think about because I think that's important is Tuesday. So it's still the beginning of the week, but for some of you that may be the end of your week. Um, but here's my inspiration for the day. Life is so much bigger, so much grander, so much higher and wider than you allow yourself to think. I think a lot of us, we get stuck where we are. We can't even see how big and how wonderful life is. Life is big. You know, the fact that we can wake up every morning and put our feet on the floor, open our eyes here, hug somebody is huge.
And I think sometimes we get caught up in our situations. We get caught up in our surroundings and we don't see anything past us. I remember being in Jersey and when I moved to Georgia I said, I'm not going to let this happen to me in Georgia. Jersey is a beautiful place too, but because I was just stuck in my own surroundings, never really moving past a certain part of Jersey, I missed out on a whole lot. I'm not, I said when I moved to Georgia, I'm not going to do that. I'm going to visit Georgia. I'm going to discover Georgia. Um, I was born here, but I moved when I was 12 to Jersey. I stayed in Essex County most of the time. Union county most of the time really didn't move past there, I mean I would travel and go places like, you know, I would go to The Bahamas and to St Lucia, places like that.
But just around me, I was so used to being where I live that I didn't even get out and see what was around me. Life is much bigger. It's much grander. But we gotta think about that. You gotta think about where you are in your life, where you want to go and knowing that you can get there. That's the other thing too. It's the old saying, if you believe you can or if you believe you can't, you're right. Either way. If you think you can or think you can't, you are absolutely right. Either way you look at it so why not think big? I'm a big Thinker. They tell me all the time, oh my God, you make things too big. Everybody tells me that I'm a big thinker but I'm so dedicated to what I do til I get stuck sometimes in my space.
Don't let that happen to you. Think big. Don't be afraid to think big. Let me tell you something. Look around you, especially if you are business owner. If you think about inventing something, if you are around people who can't think big, get from around those people because they will keep you small minded like them. You don't want to be like that. You don't want to be around small-minded people. All the time. Sometimes you can't help because some of those small-minded people are your family and friends, so you kind of have to be around them, but you don't have to be around them all the time. Getting around people who think big, get around people who are out there exploring the world, who kind of gives you that nudge and say, you know what? There's a big world out there.
Life is big. It's much bigger than we are. Much bigger, much grander, much higher, much wider than we allow ourselves to think about. Queen Latifa said that and she was absolutely right. She's one of my favorite people in my office. Maybe one day I'll take a picture of my wall, the wall that I face every day as I work Queen Latifah's on that wall. Rachel Ray, Kathie Hughes B Smith, Shelia Crump Johnson, Mary Kay, Tyra banks, Madam CJ Walker, Michelle Obama, and of course Oprah. Those are the pictures that are on my wall. It reminds me of every day of how these women think . How they think and what they know about the world and what they know about success. That reminds me every day when I look at this wall, when I look at my vision board that's here, when I look at my schedule is on the wall.
When I look at the million dollar person, the success plan that I have taped to the wall, I got checks on the wall. I got on my baby's pictures on the wall. You know, these are the things that I have surrounding me every day in my office because I'm not surrounded by people, but I need to think bigger all the time. And the way to do that is a little, but that wall says, you know what? All of these women started like me. They started really small, but they thought really big. When I tell you, I think big, I think big. I woke up this morning thinking about this show and thinking about how to expand this show and that came up. When you sit still for a minute, you just listen. The idea came to me it's mind blowing to me and I'm excited about the expansion of the show.
Daily Inspiration 8/12/19
But before I go, I want to give you a little bit of inspiration is as well, I like to close out with something that's going to keep you empowered for the rest of the day. It's only Monday for some of you. So, your week just started. Somebody's probably already pissed you off by the water cooler or by the bathroom, but I want you to stay inspired and move forward and kind of put that stuff behind you. Let it roll off your back. Be a solution person. Don't, don't, don't deal with the problems. Don't let them take you down and take you off the game. But that's not my inspiration. So, my inspiration for the day is this. Every strike brings me closer to my next home run. That was said by Babe Ruth and he was right.
You don't think about the little things that you do. I'm telling you, I'm very impatient and when things seems like they're taking a long time, I have to be reminded that every little thing I do is building up towards what I'm trying to accomplish. So, every strike, every step that you take, every time you exercise early, every time you meditate it’s getting you closer to what you're trying to achieve. I know sometimes it looks like it's taking too long. I know. I feel you on that. Let me tell you, I deal with it every day, but every step you take in the right direction is a step closer to your goals. That's really what Babe Ruth was saying. It was baseball. So, every strike he took put him closer to a home run. Every you step you take is on the path towards your journey, it gets you a little bit closer and I know it seems like it's taking forever.
Trust me when I tell you if anybody knows, I do, but just know that it's the little thing. It's like the compound effect by Darren Hardy. It's like the little things that you do, they add up and they add up and one day it looks like you exploded. Right? I don't know what it is you're trying to accomplish, but just know that you stay on the path no matter how hard, no matter how long it looks, you know, don't matter if it looks like you're not getting anywhere you are, you are making progress. Every time you do something towards that goal, whatever it is, you're trying to buy a house. Every time you pay off a credit card, that's a step in the right direction towards buying your house. You're trying to buy a new car, so you're trying to get that down payment. Every time you save a dollar, that's a dollar towards a down payment of that car.
If you're trying to start this business, every time you read a book about how to start a business, you're a step closer to starting a business. You're trying to grow your business. Every time you watch a marketing video, you’re a step closer to growing your business. Whatever it is you're trying to do. Even, if you're trying to get healthy, every time you get up and exercise, you're a step closer to trying to lose weight. You know, every time you say, you know what, I'm not gonna eat that donut and let me tell you, I know, I know. I know. These are the things I'm telling you right now are things that I know cause it's always a journey. Here's the thing, you got to keep doing those small things. You gotta keep taking those steps. you gotta keep taking those swings.
Your home run is coming. Trust me when I tell you, but you got to stay on the path. You got to stay at the bat. You gotta keep swinging. So ,listen, that's all I got for you today. Thank you so much for listening. You could've been anywhere in the world, but you spent the last hour and nine minutes with me and I appreciate you so much. I see my numbers growing. I'm still, I'm still trying to get to that million subscribers, a million download or a combination of both. But I see the numbers growing. When I looked at my statistics, I know that you guys are sharing the show and I really, really appreciate that. That's, that's a big thing. Like, you know, I did PodThon yesterday and um, I have a local podcast. So, to be able to get to a million subscribers to a hyperlocal podcast is a big deal.
It doesn't sound like, and you may not even know what I'm talking about. Here's the thing, go over, listen to the show, download the show, share the show. Do me that favor guys, help me get to that million because in the podcasting world, that's a big deal. That is a huge deal to say, you know what? I got a million downloads.
