I had a really good time learning about how the Gwinnett Department Of Transportation work. From the outside looking in you don't see all of the moving parts that go into running our transportation system. Did you know that most of the street signs that you see throughout Gwinnett are made in house by two talented gentlemen? I got a chance to see how they make the street signs in action. How the signs are printed and then applied to the reflective metal that we see on the highways as we travel around the county. I've included a short video to give you a glimpse at how it all goes done at the D.O.T.
The next thing that was pretty fascinating was seeing how the traffic is monitored from the DOT traffic station. There are cameras that can see very well the cars that are driving down the streets, so if you are thinking about running a red light or a stop sign, you'd better think again, because you are on candid camera.
