I had the opportunity to attend a food tasting yesterday at 550 Trackside located in Lawrenceville, GA. The location was just beautiful and when I entered into the venue I was surprised to see of the food that laid out. I was not expecting to see such lavish spread and everything looked so delicious. I had a chance to talk to the you ladies that were hosting the event and they told me that they worked for Events by Dezine and that they did one of these tastings quarterly. While I was there I got a chance to talk to a bride to be who found not only great food, but also a DJ and a caterer. I also met a Reverend who preformed wedding ceremonies, a florist, a wedding singer check out his video below, a DJ, a cake decorator and another event planner. Take a look at my photo slide below and check out the my episode of what I learned about collaboration from a food tasting.
In this episode I talk to Shantell Wilson who is the Gwinnett County Economic Development Manager. Shantell is responsible for the following areas at the EOD in Gwinnett:
*Business Attraction (Advanced Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Professional & Corporate Services, and
*Health Sciences & Services)
Originally from Pittsburgh, moved to Atlanta in 1986. Staffing superhero by day with over 22 years of experience in the staffing industry. Met her husband at the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce Friday networking group where he proposed 4 years later. Serves as an ambassador with the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce and on the board for GUIDE, Inc. (Gwinnett United in Drug Education). Last Christmas, was contacted by her older sister who was adopted. They share the same biological parents and it could not have come at a better time as they both had suffered significant loss in 2018. Melissa's 24 year old daughter passed away, and the remaining adopting parent to her sister also passed. They have had an exciting year getting to know each other. Not only do they look so much alike, but with only a 2.5 year difference in age, they even act just alike.
Melissa served as a volunteer for three years at Cross Pointe Church on stage in the large group children's ministry. That is where she came up with the idea of Canvases For A Cause, a mobile paint party business where the art work is donated back to various organizations like the Amanda Riley Foundation. In the short year that she has been in business, she has been a finalist for the Impact and Pay It Forward Moxie Award.
